Our Story

A Sound Life (ASL) was founded in 2014 by internationally acclaimed musicians and yogis Edo and Jo Mall-Kahn ( VAANI). The vision for ASL is the union of Edo’s experiences as a major- label artist and music therapist in Sydney’s healthcare facilities, together with Jo’s work as a management consultant teaching yoga and music in underprivileged communities. Together they have spent the past six years volunteering extensively in a range of humanitarian projects in India, South East Asia and Australia. (www.edoandjo.com).

A Sound Life’s unique model was inspired by those of our mentors at OzHarvest and Musicians on Call, a U.S. based charity which brings live music to hospitals.

Edo and Jo's previous humanitarian service projects include the Gift of Life Program to raise money for operations for children with congenital heart defects in India, providing scholarships to students in underprivileged areas and fundraising campaigns for Mental Health Australia. Most recently, Edo and Jo collaborated with The Family Franks Foundation and Sri Narayani Peedam to manage the renovation of the Katpadi Girls Orphanage in India.

In September 2015, Jo passed away seven weeks after being diagnosed with stomach cancer. Her loss is mourned by Edo and the ASL family. Her legacy and shining spirit live on and inspire A Sound Life. We are forever grateful for the seeds of love she planted in our hearts and world to create a sound life for all!
