24 February 2019
1:00 pm - 6:00 pm
A Sound Life Dome @ The Entertainment Quarter, Moore Park, Sydney
A Sound Life is super pumped to host our first music facilitator training day for 2019 on Sunday 24th February from 1pm-6pm in our brand new headquarters – the Sound Life Dome! Hosted by ASL’s Music Program Manager and founder & director of The Human Sound Project, Simon Jankelson, this training afternoon is a pre-requisite for new volunteers, as well as an inspiring refresher for existing volunteers.
ASL is working with a wide range of facilities throughout Sydney and Wollongong – and this exciting experiential-based music training day will focus on preparing and empowering ASL music facilitators to start volunteering. We aim to equip volunteers with vital tools to share the healing and transformational power of their music by presenting modules in:
– Basic ethics, protocols and self-care
– How to plan and run a community music session using your pre-existing music skills
– The ins-and-outs of performing interactive songs and music
– Leading drumming, percussion and voice activities
– Where and with whom you can volunteer
By the end of the afternoon, our aim is that you will not only feel super inspired and ready to roll as a volunteer, but also connected to other like-minded and talented individuals in our beautiful ASL network who you can collaborate with on ASL sessions. It will be a super fun session where everyone gets the chance to team up to play and perform using their skills and talents.
RSVP: Please secure your spot by emailing ASL’s Volunteer & Program Manager, Di Timmins, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
WHAT TO BRING: On the day, please wear comfortable clothing, and bring along with you a printed copy of the accompanying training manual (which will be emailed to all participants a week or two prior to the workshop), pen and paper, drink bottle, instrument if applicable, and big smile! 🙂
