ASL provides two yoga sessions each week at Randwick Children’s Hospital.
One at The Saunders Mental Health Unit and at The Children’s General Medical and Surgical Unit.
The yoga program for The Saunders Mental Health unit is a therapeutic yoga program servicing an adolescent in-patient psychiatric unit. The yoga sessions are adapted to work with a variety of health conditions, including OCD, schizophrenia, PTSD, autism, cognitive impairment, and/or personality disorders.
The yoga program for the General Medical and Surgical ward is aimed to provide therapeutic and gentle yoga to children and their families who are admitted to hospital for various medical and surgical conditions. This program varies from week to week depending on who has been admitted during the day. The sessions are open to families, carers and visitors as well as patients. Often our volunteers are asked to visit some patients by their bedside if they have conditions that require them to stay in bed.
