Our global programs over the years have included music and yoga in orphanages and schools in Vellore, a rural district in Tamil Nadu, South India.
In North Bali, Indonesia we partnered with the Gaia Oasis Foundation to help fund the Gamelan Music School, preserving this traditional Balinese art-form by providing musical education for boys and girls from villages surrounding Tejakula.
In 2017 we partnered with the incredible Communities Assist in Tanzania to provide music and yoga programs for the children at the CA Rainbow Ridge orphanage and sustainability development site. The mamas who help care for the children were trained by ASL yoga teachers so that they could help continue the yoga education after our visit. We also funded local yoga teachers to come and provide regular yoga classes for the kids and musical instruments such as drums and guitars were donated.
In 2012 A Sound Life co-founders and musicians, Edo and Jo started the Sound Earth project with children around the world. Sound Earth’s purpose is to create inspirational music and support communities and organizations who are making a positive environmental and social difference. The music’s purpose is to inspire positive environmental action, activism, raise awareness about critical issues, uplift spirits, as well as unite kids and musicians around the world. Proceeds from the project will also help to make a tangible difference by supporting the communities / charities who collaborate in the project. To date, these include environmental charities: Green Sakthi in South India, Communities Assist in Tanzania and Gaia-Oasis foundation in Bali.
Green World (One World, One Love) is a song Edo wrote about the critical issues of deforestation, carbon emissions, pollution, destruction of ecosystems and the impact we all can have on our environment through awareness, action and in this case, planting more trees. The video/song was made possible thanks to the Sri Narayani school kids from Vellore, India and features Kaiya Gamble, an amazing young Canadian singer-songwriter. The kids from India are environmental activists and Green Sakthi members, an amazing environmental charity dedicated to reforestation, empowering communities, recycling, renewable energy and zero waste management in rural India. The kids from Rainbow Ridge, Tanzania, Africa are from an incredible orphanage and environmental sustainability demonstration site created by Communities Assist charity.. The Kids from Buleleng, North Bali, are supported by the Gaia-Oasis foundation which works to better the lives and environment of the local community.
